House of Challenge is a reality webmagazine for African youth aspiring to realize their dreams and make their mark on the international stage. The concept is simple: for 14 days, eleven young Africans from different countries, joined by a special guest from another continent (Haiti for this edition), will live together under the same roof and take on various challenges.
KODOL is a technological innovation designed to sustainably transform the agropastoral sector in Africa by addressing a major challenge: livestock management and recurring conflicts between herders and farmers. In many regions, uncontrolled livestock movement leads to crop destruction, significant economic losses, and sometimes violent clashes between communities.
The KODOL project offers a modern solution based on a connected device in the form of a smart collar placed on livestock. This collar is connected to a digital platform that allows herders to locate and monitor their animals in real time. With this technology, herders can guide their livestock toward suitable grazing areas and available water points while avoiding farmland.
This approach helps prevent livestock from entering cultivated fields, thereby reducing tensions between farmers and herders. By improving herd management, KODOL also helps secure farmers’ harvests, protect rural livelihoods, and promote peaceful coexistence between different actors in rural communities.
Beyond conflict prevention, KODOL also delivers economic and environmental benefits. The solution optimizes herders’ working time, reduces agricultural losses, and encourages a more efficient and responsible use of natural resources such as water and grazing land.
